Welcome to the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) home page.
Sustainable Development is the challenge that all societies face, making deisions that will improve the quality of life for this and future generations. ESD teaches children about, in and for the environment and provides some of the experiences, skills and knowledge necessary to make informed decisions.
There are seven key concepts which underpin ESD:
1. Citizenship and stewardship
2. Sustainable change
3. Needs and rights of future generations
4. Interdependence
5. Diversity
6. Uncertainty and precaution
7. Quality of life, equity and justice
